Grey Walls

Grey Walls are often quite lovely, but most times we don't realize just how much light they absorb. Grey walls can feel cold, monotonous, or gloomy if misused. While they offer a modern, sophisticated, and calming backdrop, overusing shades without sufficient light or contrasting accents can contribute to feelings of sadness or anxiety. Success with grey depends on undertones and lighting. And the furnishings, accessories, window treatments, etc.

What might appear at first to be a pale shade of grey is often a lot deeper once contrasted next to white.... medium-to-dark shades absorb a significant amount of light compared to lighter colors like white or pale beige. However, the extent to which they absorb light depends on the specific shade of grey and the paint finish.

Psychologically, grey has different effects on people. It can signify emotional detachment, intellectual focus, and a calm, conservative, or sophisticated energy. However, it may also indicate, in some contexts, feelings of depression, emotional baggage, or a monotonous, detached state of mind.

Deep moody greys can be wonderful, but beware of an all-grey home. An environment that lifts the spirits will have a greater appeal to buyers!
